British rivals Tottenham and Hearts meet at Tynecastle in the Europa League play-offs on Thursday night.
Last season, Harry Redknapp's Spurs were upsetting continental heavyweights Inter Milan and AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League before eventually succumbing to Real Madrid.
But, after finishing fifth in the Premier League, Tottenham have dropped into Europe's secondary competition and have been handed a difficult two-legged encounter against SPL side Hearts.
The Edinburgh club are undergoing a latest period of transition after controversial owner Vladimir Romanov decided to sack Jim Jefferies and the beginning of August before appointing Paulo Sergio.
Hearts only had finished behind Old Firm duo Rangers and Celtic last season, but the weekend win over Aberdeen was a first three points of the season following defeats to Motherwell, Dundee United and a draw at Ibrox.
Sergio was appointed by Romanov two days before the last European fixture, the win over Hungary's Paks two weeks ago, and he is hopeful he can cause an upset against Redknapp and Tottenham.
He will be boosted by the return of Andy Webster, who has been absent since the opening day of the SPL season with a groin problem, while David Obua is available again following a hamstring complaint.
