Chalo Dilli is a forthcoming film starring Vinay Pathak and Lara Dutta in the lead. The movie is directed by Shashant Shah of Dasvidaniya fame. The music of the film Chalo Dilli is a mix bag as it falls under a niche genre termed as road movie. Though, the masses aren't that acquainted to this particular genre, they might just like the music of Chalo Dilli as it has so much to offer. With numerous music composers the likes of Anand Raj Anand, Gourov Dasgupta, Sachin Gupta and Rohit Kulkarni have come up with a song apiece.
The album jumpstarts with the title song of 'Chalo Dilli' which at present is being played across numerous music channels that have been airing the film's promos for around a fortnight now. A foot tapping track with added Punjabi flavor to it courtesy Manthan's lyrics and arrangements that have Western fusion to them. This particular song has been composed by Gourov Dasgupta. The rendition turns out to be a catchy number that makes you revisit it all over again. One of the better theme tracks to have come out in recent times, this Raja Hasan sung number has just the right kind of energy, spunk and vigor to it which suits the theme of the film.
'Matargashtiya' carries frontward the fun and zestful element with the Punjabi tadka being constant. The song has been composed by music composer Anand Raj Anand who has also penned down the lyrics of the song. Sukhwinder Singh has lent his soothing voice to this one. The song depicts of oneself being unplanned, happy go lucky kind of allowing time to pass by. 'Matargashtiya' is a situational track that would look decent on screen, courtesy its picturisation that does promise effective storytelling.
The best part of the album arrives with the song ‘Laila O Laila' which has been reprised from the chartbuster number in Qurbani. Remember the days of yore when the song was picturised on Zeenat Aman and it became a rage. Well, times have changed quickly as the Hot n Sexy Yana Gupta will be seen in this song shaking a leg. Yes! The same girl who had her claim to fame with the song Babuji Zara Dheere from the movie Dum will be bringing the house down with her latkas and jhatkas. The song is sung by June Banerjee and music by Gourov Dasgupta. The latter part of the song is an out and out Western number whereas the former is a fusion mix with a Punjabi setting to it.
The next is the ‘Hi 5' song crooned by Neeraj Shridhar, a Sachin Gupta composition which is all about having fun in life, forgetting your worries and living it all to the fullest.
Those who have noticed the trailer of the film Chalo Dilli would realize that one of the patent dialogues uttered by Vinay Pathak is 'Kaun Si Badi Baat Ho Gayi'. A song based on the same lyrics by Shabbir Ahmed comes at this point in the album where yet again the album takes a Punjabi route.
Last but not the least, Rohit Kulkarni brings in an out and out English track titled 'Moments In Life' Neisha Mascarenha has penned down the lyrics whereas Natalie Di Luccio sung track has a classy feel to it and lends a quality element to the album.
Apart from the above, the album also includes 2 club mixes of the songs Laila O Laila and Hi5.
On the whole the album looks fresh! _________________ mrsamct |
