When you are looking for rare comics, there are many different venues to choose from. There are the old fashion comic book conventions that are held annually. This can give collectors that rare chance to see some of the truly rare and old comics from days gone by.
There are a good number of people that collect their favorite super hero but do not forget your favorite movie comics. Remember Abbot and Costello. They had comic books printed by Charlton and Silver Age comics. A copy of the very first issue is worth $55.00 on today's market.
There are also still around, if you can find them, the rare comics that featured multiple super heroes. The Adventure comic #436 is a good example. This one has the Gasmen, Spectre, Aquaman and the Black Manta all in the same issue. This rare comic is worth $32.00 today, but its value will increase.
For those really rare comics you would have to reach back to the Platinum age of comic books. Surprisingly some are not only still around but for sale. The old Popeye comics are still a popular rare comic book that was printed in 1937 along with Famous Funnies from 1935. But for those early super heroes one would need to look for the "New Adventure Comics" from the early and late 1930's.
Most of the old and rare comics are being placed up on comic book action sites on the internet. It seems that the people inheriting them do know their value but do not appreciate not only the literary value or the artistic value of what they have. This is when you can find those rare comics that you have long sought. _________________ mrsamct |
