BELLE VUE ACES
After yet another disappointing season in 2011, confidence is once again high that Belle Vue Aces could mount a serious title challenge.
They genuinely benefited from the off-track disruptions which saw Chris Harris leave Coventry Bees.
Every other club had already filled their number one berths when Harris came onto the market, leaving Belle Vue with the simple option of making him an offer, and they did not hesitate in snapping up Great Britain's Grand Prix star.
Having led an unfancied Coventry side to glory in 2010, he will hope to repeat that feat this year, but in truth he looks to have his work cut out.
Harris aside his support will come from fellow new signing Rory Schlein and promising Dane Patrick Hougaard.
Schlein is more than capable of upping his average of just under 7, but Belle Vue will need Hougaard to make big strides - something he is a capable of - if they are to challenge the bigger hitters.
Swede Ricky Kling and Tomasz Piszcz were due to start the season in the second-string berths, but after an average change - the returning Charlie Gjedde will now step into the main body in his doubling up role.
That means Piszcz will start at reserve and he should benefit from racing at 6 or 7, plus it also means Belle Vue will have an extra 1.5 points to play with later in the season.
Young Premier League prospects Craig Cook and Kozza Smith fill the other DU role and they should provide some excitement through the season.
MAIN MAN: Chris Harris
ONE TO WATCH: Charlie Gjedde
STARTING VII: Chris Harris, Rory Schlein, Patrick Hougaard, Ricky Kling, Tomasz Piszcz, DU Charlie Gjedde/Mark Lemon, DU Craig Cook/Kozza Smith
