A 61-year-old lifeguard, Roy Lester, decided that he was well past the age of wearing a ridiculously small swimsuit called a Speedo. However, his employers insisted that the minute amount of material was necessary for the guard to do his job, and fired him for failing to don the suit for trials.
Lester thinks the issue over the swimsuit really arose because of his age, and he is suing for the right to dress more modestly for work. In his words,
"Older people . . . prefer a more modest swimsuit and thank goodness they do," he said. "There's a thing called aging and there's a thing called aging gracefully."
