Maybe my title should read "Hope Springs Eternal," because despite not seeing any new episodes of Eureka in a long while, I was hoping the delay was due to financial troubles, and hoping that after a longish hiatus, SyFy would resume production on the show.
Eureka intrigues me because at its center is a sheriff named Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson), who is smart and courageous with a good sense of humor. Further, Eureka also shows the power of redemption. After a divorce and almost losing his daughter Zoe (Jordan Hinson) to crime, the Sheriff Carter reigned in his workaholic tendencies, and became a sensible, loving father to Zoe and a good friend to many in the community.
Besides the human side of things, Eureka intrigues me because of its many interesting inventions, some of which will surely become reality.
However, Hollywood seems to be bitten by the television version of an African Tsetse Fly, carrier of an infection called T. rhodesiense, an infection most people know as sleeping sickness. And thus, Eureka is no more.
