The recommended calories per day are different for almost all people as all of us tend to have a unique body. The daily recommend intake is bound to differ from person to person on the basis of various factors that include weight, height, sex, age, daily exertion, etc. The calories that are to be included in the daily diet usually have to be in proportion to the ones that are burnt every day. The term calories in reality describes the potential energy that is stored inside a particular food item.

Once the food is taken in by the body, the digestive system starts breaking it down and also starts generating energy in the process. The energy generated is counted with the help of the unit, calories. In reality, the unit calories is used to define the amount of energy that is capable of increasing the temperature of water weighing one kilogram by exactly one degree Celsius and under one unit of atmospheric pressure. This definition sounds very complicated yet here's a simplification of the concept. When you consume one calorie, your body becomes capable of generating energy that can heat one kilogram of water by one degree Celsius. Coming back to the medical sciences from physics, let us proceed. Read more on food calories list.

Calories in the Human Body
The human body needs energy according to the surroundings, physical features of the person in question and the physical exertion that the person undertakes through out the day. A standard parameter which is known as the basal metabolic rate or the BMR is used as a guideline to calculate the recommended calorie consumption. The BMR is basically the rate of energy that is needed to keep the bodily functions running when the person is sitting idle. The BMR usually variates from country to country and is affected by the average physiques. For example, a short person would obviously require less calories than a very tall person. Same is the case if we compare the required calories per day for a person who lives in the tropical region and the one who lives in the colder regions of the world. Nutrition and diet experts usually recommend an increase or decrease of about 500 calories according to the need. The actual and accurate recommended calorie intake usually differs from case to case and a recommended calorie intake calculator or a calorie intake chart would certainly prove to be fruitful. One must note that any calorie intake calculator is not hundred percent accurate. You can easily find calculators on the Internet. Read more on body mass index.

Calorie Intake Per Day
All the calorie recommendations are not applicable for infants, lactating women and pregnant women as the diets and diet plans have to be prescribed by doctors after proper examination and analysis. The recommended calories per day remain almost same for people in the age group between 19 years to 50 years. This is seen due to the fact that the human body does not undergo many changes between this time period. The recommended calorie intake for women that belong to this age group is prescribed as about 1,940 calories per day. As mentioned earlier, this recommended calories intake can increase or decrease from 500 calories to 1000 calories per day. The recommended calorie intake for men is about 2,550 calories per day. The recommended calorie intake for children that are in the age group of 4 to 10 years is around 1,500 calories per day. The recommended calories per day for boys who are between 4 to 6 years of age is 1,715 calories per day and for the girls of the same age group, it is 1,545 cals/day. The calorie requirement starts increasing after the kids cross 6 years of age. The daily recommended calorie intake after this age group thus becomes 1,970 for boys and 1,750 for girls. A similar increase is again seen between the age group of 15 to 19 where the recommended calories per day for boys become 2,755 and for girls it becomes 2,110. Read more on low calorie food list.
