When I first saw happy feet when it came out in 2006, I was surprised by how much I liked it. The animation was great and the animals were adorable, but what I really dug about the movie was its music. Rather than using modern pop bullshit, the soundtrack had amazing, classic songs by Queen, Stevie Wonder, Prince, The Steve Miller Band and many more.
The number one thing that you want to look for in a template is flexibility, and this is where the pre-packaged templates with web design software really shine. Essentially, the visual presentation of your website isn't directly tied to the content.

Don't get too hung up on the design of your website, though. Though great visual appeal will make people look at your site, what keeps them there, and returning, is great content.
